Youth Care Africa was founded in 2023 by Onsombi Geoffrey who recognized the urgent need to address the growing health challenges faced by adolescents and youth across Africa. Born out of a vision to empower young people with accurate health information, life skills, and leadership opportunities, the organization was created as a safe and inclusive space where youth could engage, learn, and take action.
From its inception, Youth Care Africa prioritized holistic health, addressing not just physical well-being, but also mental, social, reproductive, and environmental health. Onsombi believed that with the right support, young people could become powerful agents of change within their communities. Since its launch, Youth Care Africa has grown rapidly in scope and impact, building strong networks across schools, communities, and health institutions. The organization began by implementing school-based programs, youth dialogues, and awareness campaigns, and later expanded to include advocacy for youth friendly health services, community outreach, and climate-health initiatives. As a youth-led and youth serving organization, Youth Care Africa continues to empower the next generation of health professionals, community health ambassadors, and changemakers dedicated to creating sustainable, healthy futures.

Onsombi Geoffrey is a dedicated high school teacher with a deep passion for youth empowerment and health advocacy. His extensive interaction with young people in the classroom and beyond exposed him to the diverse health, social, and emotional challenges faced by adolescents and youth. Witnessing these realities inspired him to establish a platform that would respond to the unique needs of young people through education, mentorship, and community engagement. His background in teaching has enabled him to connect meaningfully with youth, understand their struggles, and guide them toward realizing their full potential. Driven by a desire to create lasting impact, Onsombi founded Youth Care Africa in 2023 with a focus on promoting holistic health and well-being among adolescents and youth. His vision was to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where young people could access health services and information, gain essential life skills, and emerge as leaders in their communities. Under his leadership, the organization has launched several impactful programs and initiatives that amplify youth voices, foster innovation, and promote health equity. Onsombi continues to inspire young people to become health champions, advocates, and change agents building a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
