NAJIKINGA, meaning “I protect myself,” is a Youth Care Africa initiative focused on preventing teenage pregnancies by promoting self-awareness, self-protection, self-responsibility, and informed decision-making. The initiative equips adolescents and young people with accurate information, practical skills, confidence, and protective resources to understand their sexual and reproductive health, make informed choices, reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy and other health risks, and take greater responsibility for their health and future.

Through the initiative, we equip adolescents and young people with reliable information, practical skills, supportive resources, and linkages to youth-friendly services that enable them to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. We engage young people, parents, teachers, community leaders, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders through school and community dialogues, peer-led sessions, awareness forums, educational activities, and advocacy, creating supportive environments that promote healthier choices and reduce teenage pregnancies.
