SRHR Festival 1.0

Youth Care Africa is proud to announce the SRHR Festival 1.0, a groundbreaking community-centered event focused on promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) among community members.

 

This festival will take place on 6th December 2025 at Huruma Lions Hospital, Mathare, bringing together diverse groups of people under one shared mission, to foster awareness, inspire dialogue, and strengthen community participation in advancing holistic health and well-being.

 

The SRHR Festival 1.0 will also form part of Youth Care Africa’s advocacy activities during the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, aligning with our ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, human rights, and health justice.

What We Anticipate to Do on That Day:
Free Health Screening and Consultations

We intend to provide free medical services to all attendees through partnerships with volunteer doctors, nurses, and health organizations. Services will include:

  • HIV and STI testing and counseling

  • Blood pressure, glucose, and BMI checks

  • Family planning counseling and referrals

  • General wellness and  consultations

Menstrual Health Education and Product Distribution

We will dedicate a major part of the festival to promoting menstrual health management.

  • Community sessions for both men and women to foster inclusivity and break stigma.

  • Demonstrations on the safe and hygienic use of menstrual products.

  • Distribution of free sanitary towels, menstrual cups, and educational materials to girls and women in need.

Distribution of SRH Resources

At the end of the day, participants will receive:

  • Free condoms and contraceptive information

  • Educational pamphlets on SRHR

  • Referral contacts to youth-friendly health facilities

GBV Awareness & Survivor Support Booth

In line with the 16 Days of Activism, we will set up a GBV Awareness Booth to:

  • Share resources and referral contacts for survivors

  • Offer psychosocial support and guidance

  • Raise awareness on prevention and response mechanisms

Youth Engagement Zone

A lively and interactive space will be dedicated to young people, featuring:

  • Games, quizzes, and SRHR-themed competitions

  • Peer-led discussions

  • Storytelling sessions and mentorship moments with youth advocates
