Girls Tubonge Initiative

Girls Tubonge Initiative is a girl-centered empowerment program under Youth Care Africa that creates safe and supportive spaces where adolescent girls can openly speak, learn, and grow.

Within these spaces, girls openly discuss and share about issues that directly affect their lives. They talk about menstrual health and hygiene, body changes during puberty, relationships and consent, and how to protect themselves from early pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. They also open up about mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, academic pressure, family expectations, and experiences with bullying or peer pressure.

Girls share personal experiences about gender-based violence, online safety, social media influence, and navigating friendships and romantic relationships. They discuss their dreams, career aspirations, leadership ambitions, and the barriers they face as young women in their communities.

Through honest conversations, peer support, and mentorship, the initiative helps girls build confidence, find their voice, support one another, and develop the knowledge and resilience needed to thrive
